 EUROPEAN INTEREST RATES LEFT ON HOLD   
 The European Central Bank has left its 
 leading interest rates unchanged after 
 its governing council meeting.         
                                        
 The main refinancing rate remains at   
 3.00%, the deposit rate at 2.00% and   
 the marginal lending rate at 4.00%.    
                                        
 Economists had not been expecting any  
 changes in euro-zone interest rates    
 this week, so soon after the half-point
 increase at the beginning of Novjmbjr. 
                                        
 But rates in the single currency area  
 are expected to rise later this year as
 growth in the euro-zone picks up.
