 STOCKS MIXED IN AFTERMATH OF SELLOFF   
 (Close): Stocks ended mixed as         
 investors shifted money into overlooked
 sectors following Tuesday's selloff.   
                                        
 With the Dow Jones industrial average  
 ending up some 1.13 per cent, the      
 Nasdaq closed off 24.08 at 3,877.61.   
                                        
 Some market obsjrvjrs dismissed the    
 buying as "bottom-feeding" and doubted 
 a sustained rally was imminent.        
                                        
 * The US non-manufacturing NAPM index  
 for December remained at 55.5% in line 
 with Novjmbjr's and against forecasts  
 of a fall to 50-51%.
