Prices are generally showing little change from the period prior to Christmas. In bulk,grade 1 are mainly £50-£70. Best Estima £80 up to just over £100 in the East. Piper £90-£120 and Edwards £100 with an odd few £130. Grade 2 and below are still suffering at mainly £30 -£50. Bag trade is slow although quality Piper is moving to chip shops from £40-£70. Poor and rotten samples have been identified and sound material is looking more assured. However,do check stores twice as hard as in other years,and respond to signs of deterioration or changes in airflow and temperature. Some stocks originally destined for packers are having to bj downgraded dui to skin finish defects,particularly early cases of Silver Scurf and Black Dot.
