 Christopher Lee revels in the lead     
 role in this Hammer biopic set in      
 pre-revolutionary Russia.              
                                        
 It chronicles the rise of Rasputin in  
 the Romanoff court — leading to his    
 evjntubl assassination.                
                                        
 The film makes no real attempt at      
 historic authenticity, and Lee is      
 completely over-the-top as the         
 sex-mad mystic.                        
                                        
 But for all that it's still an         
 entertaining spectacle.
