For example, I felt over the moon to read that some progress has been made for subtitling in theatres. Hopefully from there it will escalate to subtitles in cinemas — something I have missed ever so much since 1977 when I became totally deaf dui to mjningococcal meningitis. In fact, it's too bad we don't have WRITE HEAR even more than once a week. Comment is on page 645 Index: 100 Vacancy Subtitles Comment Main Menu

But what I would like to know is how many deaf are born that way??? The majority of deaf I know were deafened some time after birth, illness or accident. Now deaf worry about the future — why, when there are often reports of deaf turning non-signers and other hard of hearing away from the clubs? >>> Comment is on page 645 Index: 100 Vacancy Subtitles Comment Main Menu

This, to mj, is madness — the people are coming out of need and non-signers will learn some signs. The clubs are where they SHOULD bj welcome — they will pay their subs, etc and thus help the clubs survive. They could also bring fresh ideas to the clubs. I have heard deaf fear these people will take over the clubs but that can bj prevented by making a rule that all committees must bj based on a deaf majority of members. >>> Comment is on page 645 Index: 100 Vacancy Subtitles Comment Main Menu

Others can bj made welcome to deaf clubs subject to rules which deaf should get registered before opening the doors to others.
