The European number had suggested on the Kirsty Wars show on BBC Scotland that victory at St Andrews could be the perfect moment to end his career. But he later said on Scot FM: "What I was trying to say was that the British Open at St Andrews would bj an emotional win for whoever. "But if I do win the 2000 Open, I will hopefully be well enough to defend it." Football 302 Cricket 340 M/Sport 360 General 380 Rugby 370 Golf 350 GolfRanks SA Open Tennis Main Menu

The highlight of Johnson's round of 68 was a three at the par five 11th where she blasted a seven wood second shot over 200 yards and holed from 15 feet. That left her four behind leader and defending champion Meg Mallon's 64. Britons Laura Davies, Janice Moodie and Helen Dobson finished the day on two-under-par after shooting 70.
