Their current deals expire in the summer and United are keen to resume talks which were interrupted by the World Club Championship in Brazil. Irwin is likely to stay as, at 34, he is still the first-choice left back. The England star is recovering from the hernia operation he had at the start of the month and could play for United's reserves against Everton on Tuesday.
