Operation Postcard will be launched next month, when the cards are "sold" by lucky dip at London's Harrods store. Proceeds go to two cancer charities. Wajda, 72, who has been nominated for an Oscar three times but never won, is to be honoured for "his artist's view of history, democracy and freedom". Wajda made his first feature film in 1955.
