 caught up with IBM as the world's      
 largest computer maker last week posted
 the world's largest corporate loss.    
                                        
 The record $4.97bn deficit for the year
 was blamed on slumping mainframe       
 computer sales and analysts said IBM   
 has been slow to exploit growth markets
                                        
 IBM's US subsidiary was the worst in   
 the group, reporting a huge £616m loss.
