 Shares ended mixed with the Dow Jones  
 finishing higher after spending most of
 the day lower.                         
                                        
 Stocks were depressed by a drop in     
 bonds, which fell on a weaker dollar   
 and higher commodities prices.         
                                        
 Declines led advances with 1,145 shares
 down, 1,030 up and 645 unchanged.
