 CELTIC POISED FOR RYAN BUY             
                                        
 Celtic Energy, the UK's second largest 
 coal-mining company, said it may buy   
 rival Ryan Group's South Wales business
                                        
 Around 350 employees are awaiting the  
 outcome of Ryan's decision to sell its 
 Welsh pits and transport operations.   
                                        
 Chief executive Bryan Riddleston said  
 Celtic would "re-examine in close      
 detail" the Ryan Group, with a view to 
 buying its South Wales mining interests
