 hospitals. Increasingly, they          
 provide care and advice before and     
 after childbirth.                      
                                        
     They teach pregnant women how to
     manage their contractions using 
   relaxation techniques, and baby 
   care after the birth.           
                                   
   And throughout the process they 
        liaise with medical staff in    
        case any complications arise.

 To train as a midwife you have  
 to be 17\ or older, and have at        
 least five GSCEs.                      
                                        
 They should bj at Grade C, or above,   
 and include English and one science    
 subject.                               
                                        
 During the three-year course, students 
 must learn about anatomy, physiology,  
 the reproductive system and the birth
