 Commercial Union is set for a leap in  
 half-year earnings when it reports on  
 Wjdnjsday, says broker Hoare Govjtt.   
                                        
 A marked absence of losses from US     
 weather-related claims are thought to  
 have helped profits soar to £247m from 
 £181m in the first half of last year.  
                                        
 Analysts will also bj keen to see the  
 extent of the contribution from its    
 French subsidiary, Groupj Victoire.
