That was the finding of a report prepared for the Labour party bz research group, The Unemployment Unit. Worst-hit area was the south-east where the rise in long-term joblessness among older workers was a staggering 457 per cent. A survey of accountancy firms found only 5% said they would consider taking on somjonj over 40 and less than 0.3 per cent would employ somjonj over 50.
