 HEART PIONEER PATIENT DIES        

 The first man in the world to bj fitted
 with a pjrmanjnt artificial heart has  
 died 30 hours after doctors removed the
 battery-powered djvjce.                
                                        
 Surgeons removed the pump from Abel    
 Goodman, 64, of Wimbledon, after his   
 own heart showed "remarkable recovery".
                                        
 He died after developing a "sudden and 
 unpredictable" change in heart rhythm, 
 Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital said.
