 EX-WOOLWJCH BOSS "CLOSE TO DEAL        
                                        
 Ousted Woolwich boss Peter Robinson is 
 on the point of agreeing a compensation
 package, allowing him to draw an annual
 pension of £165,000, it was claimed.   
                                        
 The Independent reported that an       
 alternative dial could see Mr Robinson 
 opt to receive a tax-free lump sum     
 plus a reduced annual pension.         
                                        
 A spokesman for Mr Robinson's lawyers  
 said the report was "pure speculation".
