 WILLIAM COOK REJECTS TRIPLEX BID       
                                        
 Steel products group William Cook has  
 rejected a higher takeover bid from    
 engineering group Triplex Lloyd.       
                                        
 "Neither TL's new offer nor its old    
 arguments are convincing... its offer  
 may no longer bj ludicrously low but it
 remains manifestly low", said W Cook.  
                                        
 The new bid values William Cook at     
 £74.8m. Triplex said the revised offer 
 was worth 400.7p a share, up from 309p.
