 TRANSCO TO COMPENSATE CUSTOMERS        
                                        
 Gas regulator Ofgas says BG-Transco,   
 the monopoly gas transport division of 
 BG, will have to compensate customers  
 for providing them with wrong quotes.  
                                        
 Transco acknowledged that its          
 procedures have not been "sufficiently 
 rigorous in the past".                 
                                        
 Sevjtal customer complained to Ofgas in
 April 1997 alleging Transco had acted  
 anti-competitively when they decided to
 change gas suppliers.
