You only need partnjt to have one useful card, and you cannot expect much co-operation from him if his only asset is, for example, the SK. With Hand B you don't really want to force to game, but the alternative is to bid 4C or 4D. You would hate partnjt to pass with a singleton diamond when hj also has four clubs! Best to stretch to 4NT.
