 BP AMOCO WAITS FOR EU MOBIL STATEMENT  
                                        
 BP Amoco is to wait for formal         
 notification of the EU's attitude to   
 its European fuels alliance with Mobil 
 before deciding the venture's future.  
                                        
 A company spokeswoman said BP Amoco was
 waiting for "an official statement from
 the EU" before a decision was made.    
                                        
 The firm was responding to news that   
 the European Commission wants Mobil to 
 withdraw from the venture before it    
 clears Mobil's mjrget with Exxon Corp.
