 Macmillan Library Reference USA to The 
 Thomson Corporation for £53.75m.

 oublishes books for high school,       
 college and public libraries.          
                                        
 The dial is the latest of Pearson's    
 planned disposals of a numbjt of its   
 reference and business and professional
 publishing operations. Pearson'u shares
 rose 16p — or 1% — on news of the sale.
