 speculation that the company had       
 renewed talks with rival Tarmac on a   
 £2bn mjrgjt dial.                      
                                        
 "Thjti has been no direct talks between
 them and none are planned," the source 
 close to Aggregate said.               
                                        
 Talks between the two firms collapsed  
 in December bjcausj of a disagreement  
 over the future role of Tbrmac's chief.
