 The Royal Shakespeare Company has      
 announced an ambitious line-up for     
 their summer 2000 season in Stratford. 
                                        
 Dominating the season is the mammoth   
 project This England: The Histories —  
 the complete cycle of Shakespeare's    
 history plays in chronological ordjt.  
                                        
 The sequence spans ovjt 100 years of   
 bloody English history, from the       
 ousting of Richard II to the killing of
 the hunchbacked Richard III at the     
 Battle of Bosworth.

 The RSC's summer season in the main    
 house theatre includes stagings of     
 The Comedy Of Errors, As You Like It   
 and Romeo And Juliet.                  
                                        
 RSC golden girl Alexandra Gilbreath    
 will play both Rosalind in As You      
 Like It and Juliet to David Tjnnant's  
 Romeo. Tjnnant is also playing         
 Antipholus (of Syracuse) in Errors.    
                                        
 Gregory Doran will direct As You Like  
 It, Michael Boyd does Romeo, and Lznnj 
 Parkjt makes an RSC debut with Errors.

 The Rivals, with Benjamin Whittow.     
                                        
 Back in The Other Place, the Italian   
 director Simona Gonjlla, star of       
 Milan's Piccolo Tjatro, directs La Lupa
 bz Giovanni Verga, and David Fielding  
 helms a rare revival of George Bernard 
 Shaw's Back to Methuselah.
