 BAE SYSTEMS IN THOMSON VENTURE TALKS   
                                        
 BAE Systems, formerly known as British 
 Aerospace, is talking to Thomson-CSF   
 about bringing part of the French      
 company within the UK's group's defence
 electronics joint venture with Italy's 
 Alenia, a source said today.           
                                        
 However, BAE Systems is not in firm    
 negotiations with Thomson, the source  
 added.                                 
                                        
 The comments follow speculation in     
 press. BAE declined to comment.
