 CHINESE GROUP MAKES OFFER FOR ROVER    
                                        
 A Chinese firm has formally submitted  
 an offer to buy MG Rover and the car   
 maker's engine firm Powertrain.        
                                        
 Shanghai Automotive said it wants to   
 develop new models and resume car      
 production at Longbridge in Birmingham.
                                        
 The bid to Rover's administrators, said
 to be about £60m, is in collaboration  
 with Magma Holdings run by former Ford 
 of Europe boss Martin Leach. A rival   
 bid has been tabled by Nanjing Auto.
