 MERGER TALK SPECULATION INSIST UNITED  
 Dundee United have played down reports 
 of a mjrgjt with close neighbours and  
 Primjit League rivals Dundee.          
                                        
 The club said in a statement: "Dundee  
 United faces two crucially important   
 fixtures in the league and Scottish Cup
 within the next five days.             
                                        
 "Given the importance of thjsj matches,
 the club will make no furthjt comment  
 on the continuing media speculation    
 surrounding a mjrget of the two Dundee 
 clubs .. talk of amalgamation is pure  
 speculation, and nothing else.!
