 Government accused over PCSOs 
                                  
 The Government was accused of ditching 
 a manifesto promise, after it announced
 its target of 24,000 police community  
 support officers was being scaled down.
                                        
 Policing minister (ony McNulty said he 
 and John  
 advice and the target for England and  
 Wales was being cut to 16,000.         
                                        
 But the Lib Dens said the target made  
 "a mockery" of claims about providing a
 uniformed presence in the communtiy.
