  END NEW STRIKE                
                                        
 Russian miners in the northern city of 
 Vorkuta held a one-day strike but      
 agreed to return to work after getting 
 written guarantees of concessions.     
                                        
 Workers at 11 of the 13 pits in the    
 Arctic region had stayed at home,      
 fearful that management might go back  
 on pledges made last month.            
                                        
 The promises on pay, conditions and    
 other issues came after pit strikes    
 swept numerous mining regions.         
                                        
 Tass said govt documents were produced 
 bz management and the min suspended    
 their action until the end of the year.
