  STAR DIES AT 49               
                                        
 Actor Maurice Colbourne — Tom Howard in
 TV's Howards' Way — has died of an     
 apparent heart attack at the age of 49.
                                        
 He died in the arms of his Malaysian-  
 born wife Jeanz at their holiday home  
 in France. Their eight-year-old        
 daughter Clara was with them.          
                                        
 Mrs Colbourne, a nursing sister, tried 
 in vain to revive him.                 
                                        
 Actress Jan Harvey, who plays his wife 
 in the series, was "devastated".       
                                        
 Producer Gerard Glaister called him a  
 "much-loved, first class actor".
