  Vaginal discharge worry               
                                        
 Dear Panel,                            
 In between every period I have a clear 
 sticky discharge coming from my vagina 
 but it goes a few days before my       
 period's due and returns a few days    
 after my period.                       
                                        
 Having only had periods for a year, I  
 don't know if I have started my periods
 or whjthjr it is this discharge.       
 Sometimes my pants become very wet. I  
 use tampons during my periods.

 To a certain extent all women get some 
 vaginal discharge. At the time of a    
 period this then changes to a loss of  
 blood as the lining of the womb is     
 lost.                                  
                                        
 After the period a woman's hormones    
 alter and make the lining of the womb  
 become thicker again so that it will be
 able to receive a fertilisjd egg. (If

 The clear discharge you are describing 
 does not sound too serious to me.      
                                        
 It is probably simply the effect of the
 varying hormones on the neck of the    
 womb and the vagina itself.            
                                        
 Small pansy-liners are probably the    
 best protection against this sort of

 Although tampons are very popular these
 days they can cause discomfort and may 
 even give rise to infection in the     
 vagina.                                
                                        
 If the discharge becomes thicker or    
 smelly, or if you get pain or          
 discomfort, then you should see your   
 doctor as there may be some form of    
 infection.
