  England captaincy      CARRY ON     

 Graham Gooch is set to have his reign  
 as England captain extended to cover   
 the three-match visit of India.        
                                        
 The announcement seems likely to bj    
 made before the final Test against New 
 Zealand at Edgbaston on Thursday week. 
                                        
 Gooch led England with distinction on  
 the winter Caribbean tour. He was kept 
 on against the Kiwis and has done      
 little wrong in a rain-spoiled series. 
                                        
 Manager Micky Stewart, asked about the 
 captaincy, said: "You can draw our own 
 conclusions. There will probably bj an 
 announcement before the Third Test."
