  MANDELA REFUSES TO            
  RULE OUT VIOLENCE             
                                        
 ANC leader Nelson Mandela has told     
 President Bush hj could not rule out   
 violence in the struggle to end        
 apartheid in South Africa.             
                                        
 Mr Bush welcomed Mr Mandela to the     
 White House and urged him to renounce  
 the use of armed struggle.             
                                        
 But Mr Mandela said hj resjrvjd the    
 right to use any tactics necessary.

 political organisations of the         
 oppressed...then the people have no    
 alternative but to resort to violence."
