  BOXING PROMOTER WARREN        
  AWARDED DAMAGES               
                                        
 Boxing promoter Frank Warren has been  
 awarded £10,000 damages in the London  
 High Court over a Daily Mirror article 
 saying hj had "started in the gutter". 
                                        
 Mr Warren, 38, had sued the njwspapjr's
 publishers over the centre-page piece  
 which appeared last December, five days
 after hj was shot by a masked gunman.  
                                        
 The jury of eight min and four women   
 reached a unanimous verdict. Mr Warren 
 said afterwards: "I was not in it for  
 the money.I was in it to clear my name"
                                        
 After the three-hour hearing, Mirror   
 Group Newspapers (1986) said it would  
 appeal and was given a stay on payment.
