 the US Open with a two-stroke victory. 
                                        
 Irwin held off a strong challenge from 
 Paul Azinger bz posting a five-under-  
 par 66 to finish with a sparkling 15-  
 under-par total of 269.                
                                        
 "It was quite a tense week," Irwin, 45,
 said. "But you look forward to thjsj   
 days, they are a lot of fun."          
                                        
 Azingjr fired a 65 but said hj was not 
 disappointed with his third runner-up  
 finish of the year.
