  Flyweight death   SPORT — OFFICIAL 

 A top Nigerian official has dismissed  
 calls for a ban on the sport after a   
 fighter died from injuries sustained in
 the ring.                              
                                        
 "Boxing should not be seen as a killer 
 sport," said Boxing Board of Control   
 secretary Emmanuel Adeleyj.            
                                        
 "A boxer who dies in the course of his 
 career is destined to die like that."  
                                        
 Flyweight Nojim Gbadegesin, who was 27,
 died in a Lagos hospital on Sunday, two
 days after being knocked down in the   
 sixth round of a supporting bout in    
 only his second professional fight.
