  AFGHAN TROOPS STORM           
  REBEL STRONGHOLD              
                                        
 Forces loyal to Afghanistan's Islamic  
 government have captured the last      
 stronghold of rebel guerrillas in Kabul
                                        
 Heavily-armed soldiers under the       
 command of mujahideen leader Ahmad Shah
 Masood stormed the compound and were   
 firmly in control by dawn.             
                                        
 Casualties appeared to have been       
 light but up to 120 rebels loyal to    
 hardlinj fundamentalist chief Gulbuddin
 Hekmatyar were taken prisoner.         
                                        
  The Foreign Office said it recognised
 Afghanistan's new ruling council headed
 by President Sibghatullah Mojadidi.
