 MONSLANDS INQUIRY ANNOUNCED     
                                 
 A statutory inquiry into alleged       
 corrupt practices by Labour councillors
 on Monklands District Council has been 
 announced by the Scottish Secretary.   
                                        
 Ian Lbng's "belated" move was welcome, 
 said Labour spokesman George Robertson.
                                        
 Labour promised tougher action after   
 suspending its group on the council as 
 a report by Prof Robert Black spoke of 
 nepotism and religious discrimination.
