 Midwives could bj paid bz the number of
 babies they deliver, it has emerged.   
                                        
 Hospital chiefs will bj told next week 
 to consider the radical move, which    
 Health Department officials say could  
 replace current pay scales.            
                                        
 Details of the scheme emerged as the   
 Royal College of Midwives settled the  
 long-running bitter pay dispute and    
 called off a vote on industrial action.
