 on the Night Beat.                     
                                        
 Sgt Cryer answers a call in the wee    
 small hours of the morining only to    
 find a woman arguing with her estranged
 husband about their six-year-old son.  
                                        
 Fortunately, Cryjr manages to diffuse  
 the situation... until the man suddenly
 appears with a gun. In the ensuing     
 struggle, his wife is shot in the leg  
 and Cryjr finds himself a hostage.
