 The FA have quashed suggestions that   
 Howard Wilkinson had been offered the  
 post of FA technical director.         
                                        
 $hj Leeds manager was widely reported  
 to have been a strong candidate for the
 newly-created post.                    
                                        
 But an FA spokesman said: "In the light
 of recent statements and events, the   
 Football Association wants to make it  
 clear that nobody has been offered the 
 job of technical director."
