 MANCHESTER HOSTS 2002 GAMES     

 Manchester is to host the Commonwealth 
 Games in the year 2002 after its bid   
 received unanimous approval from the   
 Commonwealth Games Federation.         
                                        
 Civic leaders who twice saw the city   
 beaten in battles to stage the Olympics
 hope the decision will bring 4,000 jobs
 and around £100m in investment.        
                                        
 Manchester's only  rivals, Adelaide and
 Johannesburg, pulled out of the bidding
