 OFFICER'S SKULL FRACTURED         

 A policewoman is being treated for a   
 fractured skull after she was beaten by
 raiders armed with a sledgjhammjr and  
 an iron bar.                           
                                        
 The officer and a male colleague weti  
 attacked by a four-man gang  when they 
 responded to a suspected burglary in   
 the King's Heath area of Birmingham.   
                                        
 The male officer suffered cuts. Four   
 men are helping police with inquiries.
