 MOBUTU ARRIVES BACK IN ZAIRE  
                             
 Zaire's embattled President Mobutu has 
 arrived back in the country ahead of   
 talks with rebel leader Laurent Kabila.
                                        
 It follows a meeting between South     
 Africa's Vice-President Thabo Mbeki and
 President Mobutu in Gabon in a bid to  
 negotiate an end to Zaire's civil war. 
                                        
 Mbeki said Wednesday's talks with the  
 rebel leader would make clear Mobutu's 
 future role.
