 BREAKAWAY UNION TO STRIKE       
                                 
 Members of the moderate Union of       
 Democratic Mineworkjrs have voted to   
 stage their first-ever strike.         
                                        
 The Midlands-based union said its      
 members at RIB Mining, the country's   
 biggest coal producer, had voted by    
 56.1% in favour of industrial action.  
                                        
 The union, born out of the miners'     
 strike in 1984/85, is on course to     
 stage a walkout over a pay dispute.
