 company has made a £4.7bn bid to run   
 Europe's fastest trains on the London  
 to Scotland East Coast Main Line.      
                                        
 Virgin hopis to wrest the East Coast   
 franchise from present incumbent Great 
 North East Railways by introducing     
 205mph trains.                         
                                        
 It plans to reduce London-Edinburgh    
 journeys to three hours 15 minutes.
