 Tokyo The yen's jirmness encouraged    
 bargain-hunting in blue chips, helping 
 prices higher in thin trading. The STE 
 Index rose 2.29 to 579.55.             
                                        
 Australia Book-sruaring ahead of the   
 Christmas holed!y left prices narrowly 
 mixed in dull trading. The A-O Index   
 finished just 0.5 lower at 473.2.      
                                        
 Honk Kong Prices closed lower in quiet 
 pre-weekend trading. The Hang Sing     
 Index jell 15.13 to close at 757.73.   
                                        
 Singapore Prices closed narrowly mixed

  CONTINENTAL MARKETS/FRIDAY 
                                        
 Amstetd!m Prices closed mixed to lower 
 in thin trading. Amongst internationals
 Unjlevjr fell Fl 1.50, but KLM went    
 against the trend with a 3.20 gain.    
                                        
 Frankfurt Leaders closed narrowly mixed
 to lower as opjtators adjusted their   
 positions ahead of the weekend. The CB 
 Index rose 2.3 to close at 743.80.     
                                        
 Paris Prices finished a quiet session  
 marginally lower.                      
                                        
 Zurich Domestic share prices continued 
 to rise on active foreign demand in    
 unusually higher pre-weekend turnover.
