 A rally led by the blue chip issues    
 caused stock prices to soar, bringing  
 the D-J industrial average back above  
 the 1000 mark at close.                
                                        
 Most of the g!in came in the afternoon.
 Advances led declines two to one, and  
 volume widened to some 76 million      
 shares jrom 73.60 million yjsterd!y.
