 Stock prices gave ground, hesitating   
 after the rally that lifted the Dow    
 Jones to a record high on Mond!y.      
                                        
 Trading on the New York stock exchange 
 was interrupted jot about 40 minutes   
 by a small fire that forced evacuation 
 of the trading jloor "ut caused no     
 injuries.                              
                                        
 Before the market opened, New York's   
 Chase Manhattan Bank lowered its prime
