 A man has appeared in court in         
 connection with a missing woman from   
 Billinge, near Wigan.                  
                                        
 Police asked magistrates to allow them 
 to hold the man for a further 32 hours 
 and the detention warrant was granted. 
                                        
 The search for Miss Helen McCourt, 22, 
 has been intensified around Billinge,  
 Merseyside, and Warrington in Cheshire.
                                        
 Hundreds of volunteers have turned     
 up to help the police look for         
 Miss McCourt, who disappeared on       
 Tuesday.
