  Sir Nigel Broackes is keeping open   
 his options towards Costain Group.     
                                        
 According to the Trafalgar House chair-
 man, the company has no immediate plans
 but does not rule out a future bid.    
                                        
 "We have taken a strategic stake in a  
 number of companies and we have some-  
 times followed that with a bid, more   
 often with a sale," he said. "But if   
 there is a second fall we would be well
 placed to do any number of thinks."    
                                        
 * Trafalgar revealed last week it had  
 raised its stake in Costain to 6.1pc.
